Nookd is a book discovery, reading list, and reading focus app developed and operated by Liaison & Partners LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use Nookd.
Nookd is designed with privacy in mind. We do not operate accounts, and we do not collect personal information such as your name, email, or phone number.
Book Library Data. The books you save, reading statuses, tags, ratings, and preferences are stored entirely on your device using Apple's local storage (SwiftData). This data never leaves your device.
Reading Session Data. If you use the Bookmark feature, your reading session history, time totals, streaks, and milestones are stored locally on your device in a private storage container. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or anyone else.
Nookd offers an optional feature called Bookmark that lets you temporarily block distracting apps while you read. This feature uses Apple's Screen Time technology (the Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks) and works as follows:

When you search for a book or identify one from a photo, queries (such as a title, author, or extracted cover text) are sent to third-party book data providers (see below) to retrieve titles, authors, cover images, descriptions, and ratings. These queries do not include personally identifiable information.
We use Mixpanel, a third-party analytics service, to understand how Nookd is used so we can improve the app. Here is exactly what that involves:
